Tonight on GTV we could see quite an interesting match. WB semifinal round of Q3 TDM Nation cup between Sweden (fox, prozac, spartie, bab) and Czech Republic TA (krysa, tyfoon, wh3nom, spyder). I suppose that most of bets were placed on Viking team – and tonight bookies would earn a lot of money. After some negotiations, swedish players agreed to play on cz server, where the pings were fair (few ms for cz team). And the Czechs really played like a home team.
First map q3dm14tmp was Czech Rep. TA traditional choice dm14. First few minutes looked like the swedish players will hold the ground easily vs Czechs, but a determined czech teamplay and a control of PUs resulted in a great czech comeback (IMHO the keypoint of the whole game). The game was tight (teens ftw ) till the end, but with czech superiority in important moments.
Second map – swedish choice pro-q3dm6. Almost everyone expected fox’s ownage here and a swedish victory. Everyone remembers IC demos with total control and railwhoring. The start was better for swe team again, but not for long. Czechs were aware of a rail threat and they controled the railgun area for the most of the game (using really annyoing krysa’s aim mainly). This map was even closer than dm14 and the victory laid in a balance. Spartie was trying hard, but in the end few lucky frags decided that this match will not be a three-mapper. GG’s, congratz to Czech Republic TA and gl to swedish team in LB. May be they will meet in Superfinals again – who knows.

The first round of playoff is behind us, no surprise there, all favored teams won their matches. The only pending match left is between Russia A and Italy. I used my admin privileges to force the match to 14.3. 21:00 CET, since the teams were unable to schedule it themselves. There appear to be four teams, who have lost several players for the playoffs and would have been unable to play, so I decided to allow all teams in NC playoffs to add/switch TWO players to/in their current lineup.
This option has already been used by Germany, which summoned reinforcement with the nickname xevo. The Russia summoned two players, Lucifer and Boom3r. Finally, the captain of the team Sweden announced that an unknown player called Tox or Cox or something similar to that will play for them. Apparently, they are scared of France and Poland A and CZE TA. You can find complete results and reports here and brackets here. I am hereby asking all captains to schedule their matches on time to help prevent unnecessary default wins. We are to witness excellent matches in the second round of the playoffs.
